Scottech (Scott Technical Instruments Limited) is focused on providing professional, friendly and reliable service in the supply of equipment, services and advice to people involved with environmental data. Also, we provide our staff with an equal opportunity workplace to expand their professional expertise and to obtain maximum work satisfaction, in a friendly and healthy working environment.
About us
We are a privately owned company that operates on a customer base built up over more than 25 years of trading in the environmental field. Scottech is the largest privately owned provider of environmental monitoring equipment and services in New Zealand, with branches in Hamilton in the North Island and Christchurch in the South Island and a permanent staff of 28. Included in this number are both professional and technical staff members with many years of combined experience in Hydrology, Meteorology, Instrumentation, Software and Electronics. Creating a blend of expertise and locality enables us to cater for a range of applications, and be a solution provider for many spheres of activity throughout the country.
The company operates in a corporate environment. It has a board of directors, and operates with strong governance and management functions. Scottech has undergone continued growth with recent structural and management changes, which is important as we operate in a growth industry sector, with a predominantly public sector customer base. To manage this growth, we have undertaken several substantial projects to improve management and quality systems. The company has also made a significant investment in an information management system to assist with the management and regular maintenance of site based equipment.
Scottech has also contributed to best practice in the field with design and manufacture of equipment to improve productivity of field staff in the form of its various loggers and software. The Glogger (gauging logger) has gained wide acceptance with regional councils and compliance bodies in both New Zealand and Australia, and is recognised for its ease of use and practicality in the field. Also, our STIL Flow Logger was recognised in September 2006, when the STIL Flow Metering Telemetry System - a joint project between Scottech and Environment Canterbury, won the Rural Award at the 20th annual TUANZ Awards.
We maintain strong connections with other professionals in the field, with active participation in the Local Authority Environmental Monitoring Group meeting (LAEMG) held annually, and well as attendance at various conferences and other user group forums.
