Basic sensor with two meters of cable. Specify calibration for sunlight (QSO-SUN) or electric light (QSO-ELEC). Measures photosynthetically active radiation (PAR), which is more specifically referred to as the photosynthetic photon flux (PPF). This basic quantum light sensor with cosine-corrected head has a domed diffusion disk and head for improved self-cleaning
characteristics and long-term stability.
Comes with 3 meters of shielded, twisted-pair wire ending in pigtail leads (additional lead wire may be added in at the time of purchase). Calibrated with an internal potentiometer to provide a fixed output of 0.2 mV per µmol m-2 s-1. Calibrated to sunlight or electric lamps. Can be mounted to our leveling plate with internal 10 x 32 threaded insert.
This sensor approximates the radiation between 400 and 700 nanometers, which are the most important wavelengths for plant growth. Photosynthesis is largely driven by the number of photons between these wavelengths, so this radiation is called the Photosynthetic Photon Flux (PPF) and is measured in µmol m-2 s-1 (micromoles of photons per square meter per second). A quantum is the energy carried by a photon so this is a quantum sensor.

Using This Instrument
The Quantum Sensor was designed for use with a data acquisition system and provides a mV output so no power is required to use it The standard sensor comes with three lead wires: the red lead wire is positive, the black lead wire is negative, and the clear wire is a ground (no charge). The Micro-Quantum Sensor (Model MQSO) and Line Quantum Sensors (Model LQS-) listed below have the same lead wires and should be installed similarly.
Amplified Quantum Sensors
Model QSO-A2.5S or Model QSO-A2.5E Model QSO-A5S or Model QSO-A5E
These sensors have the same performance as standard QSO, but with an amplified signal. Choose either 0 to 2.5 V or 0 to 5 V output and sunlight (-S) or electric lamp (-E) calibration.
Line Quantum Sensors
Apogee Line Quantum Sensors provide a spatial average of quantum light over the sensing area. Includes 3 meters of lead wire with pigtail leads. Additional lead wire can be purchased. There are three standard units from which to choose:
Model LQS503-SUN or Model LQS503-ELEC
Three (3) sensors mounted in a 50 cm bar. Model LQS506-SUN or Model LQS506-ELEC
Six (6) sensors mounted in a 50 cm bar. Model LQS7010-SUN or Model LQS7010-ELEC
Ten (10) sensors mounted in a 70 cm bar.
